Fujimi One Hundred Series

I will start my posts with information about the Fujimi Mokei One Hundred Series. These kits were 1/70 scale and cost 100 Yen (about 30 cents in 1966) - hence the name One Hundred Series. The kits came with a very nice Fujimi color guide sheet (which was a series of color profiles) from 1965-1967.
Later issues (Fujimi, AHM-Fujimi, Bachmann-Fujimi, etc.) did not have the color guides. The only exception I have found is the AHM-Fujimi P-47D - where the color guide is on the bottom of the box.
I know of 13 kits in the series.
FC-1 Zero 21*
FC-2 Zero 32*
FC-3 Zero 54*
FC-4 KI-43*
FC-5 KI-44*
FC-6 KI-61*
FC-7 KI-84*
FC-8 KI-100*
FC-9 F4U-4
FC-10 P-47D
FC-11 (?)
FC-12 F4U-5N
FC-13 F6F-5
Here is what the KI-44 looks like.

Several of these kits (*) were packaged as 1/72 kits by UPC in the mid-to-late sixties with different box art by Scott Eidson and sold in the US. Some Fujimi/UPC kits can be found on EBay and from dealers like Old Model Kits .

 The UPC KI-44 is below.

Above is what the Fujimi color profile for the KI-44 looks like.
More One Hundred Series information coming soon!

Greetings fellow plastic model airplane enthusiasts! I have started this blog in order to obtain and circulate information about vintage Japanese-made plastic model aircraft kits from the 1960's. As an Air Force Brat living in Japan in the mid-sixties I started building plastic model aircraft kits. Many of the kits I built that were favorites of mine were made by Japanese companies such as Fujimi Mokei, Nitto, Nichimo, Hasegawa, and Sanwa. I loved the dynamic box art and the unusual features on many of these kits (some could take a battery-powered motor to make the propellers turn). If there are any Brats out there in Internetland maybe you would like to take a trip down memory lane and share what you know about some of these kits you may have enjoyed building (and torching?). Perhaps you could even send pictures of kit boxes and built-up kits if you still have them. Be seeing you!
